I chose to use the hook titled "Intro to Proportions" on page 50. It was the best strategy to match the concept which I am doing my lesson on, which is creating equations. I would adjust this hook so that instead of having the students attempt to solve a proportions problem they would attempt to create an equation from a problem. An example of a problem which I might give my students is:

Tony had some cupcakes to share with his friends and he had g friends to share them with. He needs to make sure that he brings home 3 cupcakes for his parents and sister. How can we decide how many cupcakes each of he and his friends can eat?

I would then put them into small groups and we would talk about their ideas and reasoning along with the actual solution and the actual answer and the reasoning behind it. We would also discuss the importance of being able to create equations.
